Åredraget, More Than Just a Race

Åredraget is a unique 3-day stage race held every year in week 11.

With competition, tour, junior, and duo classes, there’s something for everyone.

The focus is just as much on community as on the racing itself. Participants are here to enjoy the mountains, the dogs, and the atmosphere while we take care of the rest.

Classes

  • Competition class sled and pulka

Race

  • Nome 4-6 dogs

  • Nome 7-8 dogs

  • Nome 9-12 dogs

  • Pulka 1-2 dogs

  • Pulka 3-4 dogs (If there are less than 6 participants, it is combined to Pulka 1-4 dogs)

Distance (new course for this year, exact length will come as soon as we get snow on the ground)

  • Short distance stage approx. 132 km. 50+42+40

  • Long-distance stage approx. 185 km. 50+90+40

  • Juniorclass approx. 132 km 50+42+40 

  • Tour class approx. 90 - 132 km.50 + (42 optional) + 40

  • 1 stage per day, you cannot drive all stages in one go

 

 

Layout - date

  • Wednesday March 11: check-in & vet inspection

  • Thursday March 12: Start in the morning

  • Friday March 13: Race day

  • Saturday March 14: Finish & Banquet

 

 

Price & registration

Registration fee 2026

 

  • Competition class sled and pulka SEK 3600

  • Tour class SEK 3000

  • Tourclass Duo 3000 + 1700

The registration fee must be paid by February 25 at the latest

This is included when you sign up:

 

  • Dinner Thursday and Friday

  • Breakfast Friday and Saturday

  • Kolbulle over the fire

  • Banquet Saturday

  • Straw/wood wool for the dogs

  • Firewood

  • Drinkingwater 

 

 

The banquet and five meals for competitors are included in the registration fee. (bring your own lunch or make your own "kolbulle" over the fire)

 

The registration is personal and follows the driver - not the team.

 

The deadline for registration is February 25, 2026

Rules

In order to start a competition class in Åredraget, you must:

 

  • The musher is or is turning 19 years old in 2026.

  • Junior must be 15 years of age or older

  • Have a valid racing license

  • The dogs must be vaccinated and microchipped.

  • For Swedish drivers, a "Green Card" requirement also applies.

  • Equipment according to the mandatory equipment list

  • The registration fee must be paid by February 25 at the latest

 

 

Tour class:

 

  • You must be at least 14 years old on the start day.

  • The dogs must be vaccinated and microchipped.

  • Equipment according to the mandatory equipment list

  • The registration fee must be paid by March 1 at the latest

  • Note. the price table only applies to the competition class

Junior 

In order to compete or drive a tour class as a junior, the signature of the guardian is required.

We also require that a guardian is present during all start/finish situations and that there is access to the checkpoint while the participant is there.

The breakfast and dinner at the checkpoint are included in the registration fee. The food is prepared and served on site at the Ånn checkpoint by Ånn Wheels .

Allergies and special diets are stated in the message box at the bottom of the registration form.

Ånn Wheels comes out and makes the food on site out in the wilderness at the checkpoint, among howling dogs and happy mushers.

Storlien Högfjällshotel

 

With the discount code Aredraget2026 all our participants and visitors receive a 10% discount on accommodation at the hotel.

By using this discount code, you also get the opportunity to book the banquet at the same time!

 

The hotel has around 20 dog rooms, so first come, first served applies to these.

Karolinergården

Only 2 km from the Checkpoint in Ånn is Karolinergården. Here there are rooms with self-catering and the possibility of a dog in the room.

There will be fixed times with scooter transport to and from KG to the checkpoint every day. It is also good to go for a walk or go skiing.
